LOS ANGELES, March 12, 2019 –Playboy Enterprises and Circle Exhibits, today announce the opening of Freedom Is Key: A Playboy Exhibition, an immersive exhibition experience that taps into the iconic brand’s vast archives, giving audiences a closer look at how Playboy has served as a force for social progress and an advocate for free speech, civil rights, gender equality for six and a half decades. The pop-up exhibit, curated for a PG audience, is now open to the public at the newly renovated Beverly Center and will run through May 26. Tickets are limited and on sale now.
The Los Angeles-based exhibition presents rare and never-before seen images and artifacts from the brand’s history of political and cultural impact – including Playboy’s profiles of such luminaries as Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and George Lincoln Rockwell; highlights from the Playboy Clubs and the civil rights movement; showcases of its role in helping launch the careers of legendary artists and musicians; and looks back on the evolution of the iconic Playboy Bunny, the cheeky Playboy cartoons and a timeline of 65 years of boundary-pushing magazine covers.
“Our team of archivists have worked closely with Circle Exhibits to create a powerful and informative look into Playboy’s first 65 years,” said Jared Dougherty, President, Licensing and Joint Ventures at Playboy Enterprises. “We think audiences are not only going to have fun, but we hope they’ll walk away with a new appreciation for the role Playboy has played in so many important cultural moments over the years.”
Exhibition attendees are invited to capture their visits through fun, interactive photo ops, including the chance to stand on the Playboy Club stage, sit behind the desk of the Playboy editors, and pose for the cover of the magazine itself.
“We knew Playboy, with its place in the cultural zeitgeist as a catalyst for social change and as such an important cultural channel for the world, would be perfect for an experiential exhibit,” said Joel Weinshanker, President of Circle Exhibits. “But, it wasn't until we began working with the company and its archivists, did we see how powerful a story we could bring to life for fans.”

A collaboration with Artist Momo Wang will launch a new series of WeChat Stickers and continues the tradition of sharing good fortune with red envelopes
LOS ANGELES, January 23, 2019 – The newly reimagined Beverly Center will usher in the Year of the Pig, celebrating Lunar New Year from January 28 to February 28 with an exclusive artist collaboration and special red envelope promotions.
Beverly Center has again partnered with animator Momo Wang to create a Beverly Center Year of the Pig mascot and WeChat sticker collection in celebration of Lunar New Year. Momo Wang is famous for creating China’s - Tuzki the rabbit. In doing so as an undergraduate student, she became an overnight online phenomenon.
Beverly Center will launch WeChat stickers throughout the year featuring Beverly Center mascot Billy the dog, another Momo Wang creation. Users can download the commemorative stickers via the official Beverly Center WeChat account. They will also be featured in WeChat and Weibo campaigns during for key holidays and seasonal experiences.

ANNUAL RED ENVELOPE PROGRAM
To celebrate Lunar New Year, Beverly Center will again give away traditional red envelopes that contain gift cards to Eggslut, Marugame Udon, Pitchoun Bakery & Café and Tocaya Organica. These will be given to customers who spend $500 or more during their visit.
Beverly Center is also partnering with YouWorld for a unique WeChat QR code that will be available for customers so they may scan and redeem a digital red envelope.

WHAT: “In the Present” Experience
Beverly Center’s new holiday set, “In the Present,” debuts on November 15 and will be available through New Year’s Day. The experience is located in the newly reimagined Grand Court and anchor courts. The modern, contemporary set includes a 35 ft. tree made of real manzanita branches and giant mirrored gift boxes lit up in holiday colors. Each gift box has its own unique character and sensory experience, and the centerpiece includes a walk-in, light-up installation that will make the perfect Instagrammable backdrop to any holiday photo. The experience also showcases custom designed artwork by digital media artist Refik Anadol, whose unique virtual appliques appear on the center’s large LED screen.

Expanded luxury and contemporary fashion, destination dining, studio/concierge services, sweeping views and bright, open spaces are just a few of the center’s new features
LOS ANGELES, November 2, 2018 – Taubman Centers, Inc. (NYSE: TCO) today reveals the $500 million reimagination of Beverly Center that transformed every aspect of the iconic shopping destination that has been located in the heart of Los Angeles for 36 years.
“Beverly Center has a special place in the history of this creative community, and our intention with this transformation was always to ensure the center best reflects and serves both its neighbors and those who visit Los Angeles each year,” said Chief Operating Officer William S. Taubman. “We sincerely thank our many partners who have joined us in creating this true homage to fashion and food in one of the most vibrant and exciting markets in the world.”
“The Beverly Center is so much more than a place to shop – it’s a landmark in our city, an anchor in its community, and a destination for Angelenos and people from everywhere,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “The reimagining of this landmark will bring a better experience for visitors, deliver new retail and dining to the neighborhood, and create good jobs for workers.”
Key focus areas for the project included creating a bright, contemporary exterior that connected the center to the neighborhood, bringing in plenty of natural light, further elevating the retail lineup, adding a variety of dining options and ensuring easy access and parking. Beverly Center was open during all three phases of construction.
“We thank the community for its ongoing patronage of Beverly Center during the reimagination, and for the three-and-a-half decades of support that have made the center one of the nation’s premier shopping and dining destinations,” said Taubman. “Even before the renovation was complete, traffic and sales productivity materially improved, and the center continues to perform above our expectations.”
Architecture & Design
Studio Fuksas of Rome, Italy, was selected as the design architect for the reimagination of the 886,000 sq. ft. center. Visionaries Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, known globally for their distinctive designs, masterfully incorporated stunning new features, including:
- A magnificent 25,000 sq. ft., gently curving, high-performance skylight ribbon of glass that triples the amount of skylight in the center and floods it with natural light
- New and expanded floor openings to allow sunlight to reach all floors and improve sight lines to other levels
- Special lighting within the floor openings and valet entrances that provides a stunning visual environment day and night
- A delicate, undulating white exterior featuring a modern metal mesh façade that allows natural light into the parking garage and is a glistening backdrop to a new, programmable exterior LED lighting system
- A lush streetscape with drought-resistant greenery that enhances the new, pedestrian-friendly environment
- A new Grand Court gathering space with plenty of comfortable furniture and places to charge devices or connect with others. Its new features include:
- An impressive 20’ w x 35’ h vertical digital LED screen
- The ability to hold special events, including the upcoming “In the Present”, a brand new holiday experience at Beverly Center
- A state-of-the-art, M4 camera-based smart parking system by Park Assist that dramatically improves the arrival and departure experience in the four-level, 3,000 space garage, including helping visitors find a parking space, and locate their vehicle

- The Street LA by Chef Michael Mina (opening 2019; Level 8)
- The 35 ft. tall Grand Court digital LED screen is showcasing the first-ever, solo and permanent LA installation of well-known media artist, designer and spatial thinker Refik Anadol. The first chapter of his installation, “Impossible Materials: Fashion,” features his interpretation of fashion through imagined fabric and subtle poetic motion. Chapter two, “Impossible Materials: Architecture” focuses on the symbiotic relationship of art, architecture and technology.
- In partnership with Anadol and UCLA Design Media Arts, Beverly Center is featuring selected works by undergraduate students. Each work, created by students in Anadol’s DMA 24 course, explores the fundamentals of motion and its application to design through timing, pace, repetition, composition, resolution and process.
- Curator Jenelle Porter, in association with the Hammer Museum, brings LA artist Amanda Ross-Ho to Beverly Center. Ross-Ho’s untitled timepiece installation, created specifically for the La Cienega escalator wall, recombines layered images from an ongoing series of large-scale paintings in which doodles, calculations, diagrams, lists, notes-to-self and other anxious scribblings aggregate on the surfaces of blank clock faces. Throughout the renovation, Porter has brought other prominent works, including those from Julian Hoeber, Karen Kimmel, Geoff McFetrdige, Dave Muller and Catherine Opie. The next phase of the art program will debut in January 2019.
- Known internationally for his murals, JGoldcrown’s “Lovewall,” a highly-grammable temporary installation, is located adjacent to the 3rd Street Valet.

PITCHOUN! BAKERY BRINGS A FRENCH FLAIR TO REIMAGINED BEVERLY CENTER
New Neighborhood Bakery and Café Offers Flaky Pastries, Fresh Bread, Delicious Salads and Gourmet Sandwiches to Locals and Visitors Alike
Los Angeles, CA (August 8, 2018) – The wait for the highly anticipated second location of beloved French boulangerie and patisserie Pitchoun! is over: the family owned-and-operated bakery and café is now open at Beverly Center. Beginning today, the newest addition to the reimagined Beverly Center will offer a limited menu to diners during scaled back hours, with regular hours and full menu offerings beginning on August 13.
The artisanal bakery is known for its commitment to classic techniques and uses only French butter and authentic techniques when creating its flaky pastries, incredible baguettes, fresh salads, gourmet sandwiches and much more. The second location has long been in the works for owners Frédéric and Fabienne Souliès, a French couple with a deep love for the culinary arts. It combines Frédéric’s background in traditional French baking and farming with Fabienne’s knowledge of Mediterranean- Italian cuisine to create a menu that caters to every palate and preference. The original location in Downtown Los Angeles has already established itself as a staple for the hustle and bustle of the city, and now the Souliès family could not be more excited to join the new Beverly Grove neighborhood.
“We have always been dedicated to bringing our love of quality baked goods and pastries to Angelenos who are looking for an experience outside the typical café,” said Fabienne. “Our goal when we opened our first bakery was to bring classic French pastries and breads to the dynamic food scene in Los Angeles. To be able to expand to Beverly Center is an incredible dream come true, and we cannot wait to share what we’ve cooked up with our new neighbors!”
In keeping with French tradition, the secret to the expansive Pitchoun! menu is highlighting fresh, quality ingredients and a daily bake off that occurs in the early hours of the morning. Absolutely everything is made in house, even down to the jams, yogurts, chocolates and array of vinaigrettes used across the menu. All fresh ingredients are sourced locally; the bread, “Le Pain”, is made from scratch daily using simple ingredients, including premium and organic flours and filtered water and absolutely no fillers; the “viennoiseries”, or morning pastries, are hand-rolled and laminated multiple times to master a perfectly flaky treat; and several colorful “patisseries fines”, or fine pastries, including beautiful macarons, eclairs, or tarts, hand-made daily with a gluten free tart shell and featuring fresh fruit & custards.
Unique to the new location, Pitchoun! will offer several sweet and savory items exclusively available at the new location, including the Beverly Lemon Turnover, delicious baked puff pastry filled with lemon custard, and a Pitchoun! original creation called Paris-Beverly, a twist on the traditional Paris- Brest choux dessert, with praline flavored cream inside, available with a delicate praline cream as well as a Nutella filling. Additional surprise sweet and savory specials will also be available on site upon opening.
Fans of the downtown location will be pleased to discover that the Beverly Center location will also offer many of the same delectable morning pastries and afternoon bites they know and love. Made using a starter that is grown and nurtured in house, the crusty baguettes, country rye, sourdough, and ficelles are the perfect base to build a solid sandwich or accompany a cheeseboard, while buttery pastries such as the croissants, chocolate twists, kouign-amanns, and beignets are the ideal sweet pairing with a cup of coffee or tea. Or grab a millefeuille, giant raspberry macaron or dulce de leche éclair – a perfect dessert that can be enjoyed on its own! Stop by for breakfast or brunch to enjoy a classic French breakfast, with half a baguette and butter or homemade jam or soft-boiled eggs the Parisian way. For guests looking for a quick lunch fix, Pitchoun! has a wide array of specialty sandwiches and tartines, including a traditional Croque Monsieur or Jambon Brie, or the California- inspired Sunshine Tartine, as well as lighter salad options such as the Sheperd Salad, the Saigon Salad or the Monaco.
The bakery will also offer rotating specials, highlighting a new and seasonally inspired pastry, salad and sandwich each month. A selection of gluten-free breads and tarts are also available every day, and those looking to feed a crowd for corporate events or office gatherings can also make use of the large tarts and cakes or the incredible catering services for any event.
The 1500-square foot space, designed by the Souliès themselves, will offer plenty of comfortable seating both inside the main dining area as well as on a sundrenched outdoor terrace. The bakery offers a more crisp and modern design compared to the downtown location, fitting in very well into its hip new neighborhood. The café is bright and inviting, with white-washed brick walls and warm hardwood floors throughout. The space also tips its hat to many French designers, with a large and beautiful lamp from French designer Constance Guisset adorning the space, and imported Mullca chairs in the vintage industrial style seen in French schools in the last century set against modern Carrera-style bistro tables. Behind the rows and rows of pastries, a box window gives a direct view into the kitchen, letting diners catch a glimpse of the cooks hard at work. A chalkboard wall displayed over the counter offers up ongoing specials and tips and tricks for first time visitors and devoted fans alike. Pitchoun! has also commissioned French illustrator Hubert Poirot to create a large hand- painted mural against one of the interior walls, which will be revealed at Pitchoun!’s Grand Opening Celebration event on September 6. Down the line, Poirot will illustrate the opposite wall as well, into which a neon sign stating “La vie est belle” is incorporated. With large windows streaming in plenty of natural light, Pitchoun makes for a refreshing morning start or productive afternoon work space.

3rd St. and San Vicente. The bakery is open on Wednesday, August 8 from 11:00am until 2:00pm, and from Thursday, August 9 until Sunday, August 12 from 8:00am until 3:00. The Webster to Open First Los Angeles Flagship Boutique at Iconic Beverly Center
LOS ANGELES, May 17, 2018 – Luxury multi-brand fashion house The Webster will open its first Los Angeles flagship location at the newly reimagined Beverly Center in 2020. The 11,000 sq. ft. boutique will offer an exquisite, perfectly edited collection of designer brands and will be the centerpiece of the intersection of Beverly and San Vicente Blvds.
